Recipe ingredients:

  • Salt: As per taste
  • Oil: 5 tbsp
  • Turmeric: 1 tsp
  • Chopped Onion: 2 tbsp
  • Water: 2.25 Cups
  • Carrot: 2 tbsp chopped
  • Capsicum: 2 tbsp chopped
  • Black Pepper: 4 Nos
  • Coriander Leaves: For Garnishing
  • Green Chilly: 1 No
  • Basmati Rice: 1 Cup
  • Bay Leaf: 1 no
  • Cinnamon Stick: 1/2 Inch
  • Garam Masala: 1/4 tsp
  • Dried Red Chilli Whole: 1 No
  • Potato: 2 tbsp chopped
  • Pigeon Peas: 1/2 Cup
  • Curry Leaves: 5-6 Nos
  • Cloves: 3 Nos

How to make Pigeon peas pulao:



  1. Wash and soak the rice for 20 mins.


  2. Step 2: Peel the pigeon peas.


  3. In a pressure cooker Add Oil, Bay leaf, Whole red chili, Pepper corn, Cloves, Slit Green chili, Diced Potatoes, Chopped Carrot, Chopped Capsicum, Chopped Onion, Few curry leaves and Stir well.


  4. Add Salt and Pigeon peas and Stir well.


  5. Add Cinnamon stick, Turmeric powder, Garam masala powder and Stir well.


  6. Add soaked rice, water. Stir Well and bring to boil.


  7. Close the lid and pressure cook for 3 Whistles.


  8. Serve hot with Gujrati Kadhi.
