Recipe ingredients:

  • Salt: As per taste
  • Ghee/Clarified butter: 1/2 tbsp
  • Sugar: 2 tbsp
  • Black Pepper: 2 Nos
  • Coriander Leaves: For Garnishing
  • Green Chilly: 1 No
  • Cumin Seeds (Jeera): 1/4 tsp
  • Dried Red Chilli Whole: 1 No
  • Gram Flour: 2 tbsp
  • Curd: 1 Cup
  • Curry Leaves: 4-5 Nos
  • Cloves: 2 Nos
  • Methi Seeds: 1/4 tsp
  • Mustard seed: 1/4 tsp

How to make Gujarati Kadhi:



  1. Add curd, besan (gram flour) and salt in a mixing bowl.


  2. Beat the mixture to make a smooth paste with no lumps.


  3. Add Water as required to make a flowing consistency.


  4. Add Sugar and mix well.


  5. Pour the liquid in a kadhai and bring it to a boil.


  6. Add methi seeds and green chilli and boil again.




  7. For tadka, heat ghee and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, cloves, peppercorns, green chilli, dried whole red chilli and curry leaves.


  8. Add the tadka to the kadhi and boil once.


  9. Garnish with chopped coriander and serve with Pigeon peas pulao.
